Oikocredit equity investments are demand-driven and flexible and range from € 75,000, up to € 2 million for a large minority stake. They can be a mixture of equity and convertible debt, based on client requirements.
Our equity partners are often looking for strong institutional shareholders who:
- share their mission and values
- bring expertise and insight to the table
- focus on social as well as financial returns
Our criteria for equity investments are similar to those for loans, namely:
- financial sustainability and development impact
- management quality, integrity, governance and growth capacity
- combination of solid and improving financials
Our portfolio has a majority of microfinance institutions, although we are diversifying into non-financial businesses including fair trade and agri-processing, where there is high development potential.
