In 2004, four different groups merged to form First Oikocredit Canada (now known as Oikocredit Canada - Central)
Our first Canadian support association - the Ecumenical Development Cooperative Society - was launched in the early 1980s in Hamilton, Ontario. Three more soon followed and in 2004 they were merged into one.
From its "church basement" roots, Oikocredit Canada - Central (formerly First Oikocredit Canada) has grown into a strong network of ethical investors that is well connected with other social investment organizations and led by a dedicated board of professional directors.
