Read how Nguyen Thi Nhung used her microloan from the Vietnam-based Tao Yeu Mai Fund.
Tao Yeu Mai Fund (TYM) beneficiary Nguyen Thi Nhung was moved to tears when she received her first loan of US$ 60 from the Vietnamese microfinance institution ten years ago. Using the loan, Nhung bought 30 ducks which three months later began to lay eggs. Now, Nhung and her husband have a steady income from selling the eggs and ducklings at a local market. Of their four children, three are attending college and one attends vocational school - something Nhung had dreamed about.
"If TYM had not expanded into my area, my children would have quit school because we did not have enough money to feed them - let alone attend school," Nhung said. "We are very proud of ourselves and thankful to TYM."
Tao Yeu Mai Fund is a Vietnamese MFI that gives impoverished rural women access to credit and savings opportunities to improve quality of life for them and their families.
