At The FIG Tree, the world's first international Fair Trade Visitor Centre
Oikocredit present a photo exhibition to celebrate the opening of the The FIG Tree; the world's first international Fair Trade Visitor Centre located centrally in Garstang, the world's first Fair Trade Town.
This exhibition shares the stories of people who have received loans through three of Oikocredit’s Guatemalan partners. Garstang photographer Tom Bamber volunteers with Oikocredit, and captured these moments when he visited the Central American nation in the summer of 2011.
Oikocredit provides access to responsible financial services in partnership with more than 890 partners in 71 developing countries. These pictures tell the story of people empowered to improve their livelihoods, support their families and provide local jobs in their communities. Through the camera lens, Bamber shows how lives can be enhanced with the opportunity of financial services.
