Our Project Partners

In the microfinance sector, Oikocredit provides loans to lenders. These local microfinance institutions (MFIs) then disburse the actual microloans to poor clients in the countries where they operate. We call them our “project partners”.

 

 

We use a number of strict criteria to evaluate and approve project partners. Our project partners include MFIs, agricultural cooperatives, fair trade producers and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs).  We look for those with the greatest need, focusing particularly on those just getting started and aiding the rural poor. We also try to work with institutions others might find too risky.
