Mr Simmes has been working at Oikocredit since 1996 and has a degree in comparative sociology and economy of the State University of Utrecht, the Netherlands. Mr Simmes was a Board Member of Kontakt der Kontinenten (Soesterberg, the Netherlands) and of the Fair Trade Organisation (Culemborg, the Netherlands). Prior to working for Oikocredit he was employed with Central Mission Commisariat as head of the department of Overseas Development Workers. Mr Simmes has been working for different organisations in the Philippines and Papua New Guinea.
