In 2003, Oikocredit started its financing assistance program in Cambodia. As of September 2011, among the biggest microfinance institutions in the country partnered with Oikocredit, channeling about KHR 161 billion (€ 28.38 million) portfolio outstanding. Oikocredit has approved loans amounting to KHR 165.25 billion (€ 29.365 million). There are currently 14 active partners (11 Financial Services; 2 Fair Trade; 1 Service) focused predominantly in the rural areas of Cambodia.
Oikocredit partners in Cambodia have expanded the outreach and impact to almost 1million disadvantaged and marginalized people who benefit from financial services of both microfinance institutions and non-financial intermediaries social enterprises in Cambodia.
