Pittala’s story

“I started my business to support my family.”

Pittala’s tailoring shop grows thanks to microfinance and her own determination

Pittala Rama Rani runs her own tailoring business and a shop selling fashion and beauty accessories. Previously, she worked for another company, earning money by making clothes. But her income wasn’t enough to support her family.

I started my business to help my family, because my husband and I weren’t earning enough to send our children to school. Pittala

She used her own savings to get the business off the ground, but at first could only afford to buy limited stock. Through a loan from Oikocredit’s partner Vreedhi, Pittala was able to purchase more inventory. With a wider range of products, she has attracted more customers and increased her income. Business is going well, and she now even hires staff to help with tailoring when there are too many orders. She also teaches others how to make their own clothes.

Thanks to the income Pittala earns from her business, her children are able to continue their studies. Her dream is to grow her shop and business even further, so her children can one day study abroad and build successful careers.
